I've been riding motorcycles for over 30 years, and in that time I've covered a lot of ground. I've ridden through all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. I've ridden on some of the most famous roads in the world, including the Tail of the Dragon, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Autobahn. And I've had some of the most amazing experiences of my life along the way.

One of the best things about motorcycle touring is the sense of freedom you feel. When you're on a motorcycle, you're in control of your own destiny. You can go wherever you want, whenever you want. And there's nothing quite like the feeling of the wind in your hair and the open road stretching out in front of you.

Of course, motorcycle touring isn't all about freedom. It's also about challenge. Riding a motorcycle can be physically and mentally demanding, especially if you're riding long distances. But the rewards are worth it. When you finally reach your destination, you'll have a sense of accomplishment that you won't get from any other form of travel.

If you're thinking about going on a motorcycle tour, I highly recommend it. It's an experience that you'll never forget.

Planning Your Motorcycle Tour

The first step in planning a motorcycle tour is to decide where you want to go. There are endless possibilities, so it's important to narrow down your choices. Once you know where you want to go, you can start planning your route.

When planning your route, it's important to consider the following factors:

  • The distance you want to travel
  • The time you have available
  • The type of terrain you want to ride on
  • The weather conditions you expect to encounter

Once you have a general idea of your route, you can start booking your accommodations. There are a variety of options available, from campgrounds to motels to bed and breakfasts. It's important to book your accommodations in advance, especially if you're traveling during peak season.

Finally, don't forget to pack for your trip. Here are a few essential items to bring:

  • Helmet
  • Gloves
  • Jacket
  • Pants
  • Boots
  • Rain gear
  • First-aid kit
  • Tools
  • Spare parts
  • Map
  • GPS
  • Phone
  • Money
  • Credit cards
  • Insurance

Riding Your Motorcycle Tour

Now that you're all packed and ready to go, it's time to start riding. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your motorcycle tour:

  • Take breaks often. It's important to stay hydrated and rested, especially when you're riding long distances.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Pay attention to the road conditions, traffic, and weather conditions.
  • Respect other drivers. Share the road and be courteous to other motorists.
  • Have fun! Motorcycle touring is an amazing experience. Enjoy the ride and take in all the sights and sounds.

My Motorcycle Touring Adventures

I've been fortunate to have some amazing motorcycle touring adventures over the years. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Riding the Tail of the Dragon. The Tail of the Dragon is a 11-mile stretch of road in Tennessee that is known for its 318 curves. It's one of the most challenging roads in the country, but it's also one of the most beautiful. I rode the Tail of the Dragon several times, and each time was an unforgettable experience.
  • Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile scenic road that runs through the Appalachian Mountains. It's one of the most popular motorcycle touring roads in the country, and for good reason. The scenery is stunning, and there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the views.
  • Riding the Autobahn. The Autobahn is a network of high-speed highways in Germany. It's one of the few places in the world where you can legally ride a motorcycle as fast as you want. I rode the Autobahn several times, and it was an exhilarating experience. I was able to reach speeds of over 100 mph, and the scenery was beautiful.

These are just a few of my favorite motorcycle touring adventures. I've had many other amazing experiences, and I'm sure that I'll have many more in the years to come.

Motorcycle touring is an amazing way to see the world. It's an experience that will challenge you, reward you, and stay with you for a lifetime. If you're thinking about going on a motorcycle tour, I highly recommend it. It's an experience that you'll never forget.
