Assessment

Trainees are assessed on a regular basis throughout the programme. The assessment process includes:

Written exams: Trainees take written exams at the end of each phase of the programme. The exams cover the basic sciences of ophthalmology, clinical skills, and surgical skills.
Oral exams: Trainees take oral exams at the end of each phase of the programme. The exams cover the same material as the written exams.
Clinical assessments: Trainees are assessed on their clinical skills on a regular basis. The assessments are conducted by experienced consultants.
Research project: Trainees are required to complete a research project and write a thesis. The thesis is submitted for examination at the end of the programme.
