Origins and History

The Carsington family traces its roots to Sir John de Carsington, a knight who fought in the Hundred Years' War. In 1347, Sir John was granted the manor of Carsington by King Edward III, and the family has held the estate ever since. Over the centuries, the Carsingtons have intermarried with other noble families and expanded their holdings through both inheritance and purchase.

By the 16th century, the Carsingtons were one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in England. They played a leading role in the Protestant Reformation, and their support for the Tudor dynasty was rewarded with titles and lands. In 1547, Sir Thomas Carsington was created Baron Carsington by King Henry VIII, and in 1628, his descendant, Sir William Carsington, was elevated to the earldom of Carsington by King Charles I.

Carsington Manor

Carsington Manor is the ancestral home of the Lord Perfect Carsington Family. The manor is a magnificent example of Tudor architecture, and it has been featured in numerous films and television shows. The manor is surrounded by a large parkland, which is home to a variety of wildlife.

Eccentricities

The Carsingtons are known for their eccentricities, which have often made them the subject of gossip and intrigue. Some of the most famous Carsington eccentrics include:

  • Lady Anne Carsington, who was known for her love of gambling and her lavish lifestyle. She was also a patron of the arts, and she commissioned many works of art from famous artists.
  • Lord Charles Carsington, who was known for his love of hunting and his collection of exotic animals. He was also a renowned sportsman, and he won many races and competitions.
  • Lady Mary Carsington, who was known for her beauty and her intelligence. She was a close friend of Queen Victoria, and she played a significant role in the British court.

Legacy

The Lord Perfect Carsington Family has played a significant role in British society for centuries. They have been patrons of the arts, supporters of education, and leaders in politics and the military. The Carsingtons have also been involved in numerous scandals and controversies, but they have always managed to maintain their position as one of the most prominent aristocratic families in England.

Today, the Lord Perfect Carsington Family continues to live at Carsington Manor. The current head of the family is Lord Frederick Carsington, who is a prominent businessman and philanthropist. The Carsingtons are still active in British society, and they continue to be a source of fascination for the public.
